History

We pass on the desire for perfection
from generation to generation

Dating back a century, the story of Panifcom is closely linked with that of Mihail Holicov, Stefan’s grandfather, who was onboard the Russian Empire’s largest warship, the Potemkin. Following a general uprising against the regime, the ship and its 750-crew members docked in the port of Constanța. Romania accepted the refugees, and grandfather Mihail ended up on the estate of the boyar Mișu Ștefănescu, as a mill technician. He soon started a family and decided to settle in Moldova.

In 1924, following in his father’s footsteps, Petru Holicov built a small mill and succeeded in turning it into a prosperous business.
Petru’s son Ștefan Holicov has carried on the tradition. Ștefan partnered with Liviu Bălănici and, with ambitious financial and management support, defined what Panifcom is today.

Our success pushed us to expand and dream higher.
Maintaining the tradition of bakery products and the passion for healthy food, the group’s branches expanded into related fields, such as agriculture, zootechnics and milling.

Being closely connected and benefiting from our long experience, all four departments registered qualitative and economic and financial performances, turning Panifcom into one of the most renowned and best regarded regional brands.
